Members of the Yellowknife Amateur Radio Society are granted an account on this website. This account may allow them to submit articles for publication in the Newsletter, editing privilege for more senior members to edit those submissions and similarly for the submission of photographs to the gallery. Users, depending on their privileges, will have access to more detailed information including meeting minutes, financial statements and a library of non-public materials of interest to the Society as well as operational documents.
In addition, members who register may be added to our users list for mass emailing. Such emails are useful to keep track of events, including social gatherings, contests, work parties and the like. Because of the presence of personal information, there are legal requirements with which the Society must comply, including Canada's anti-SPAM legislation. This is why the previous Mailman system (dating to the 1990s) is being decommissioned. If we do not have your email or particulars and you wish to subscribe, please email Ian Rennie and an account will be set up for you on an experimental basis in order to test the system and tweak it.
YARS will remove a user from the system if it concludes that a user has abused their privileges.
NB - Please note that YARS is about to review its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws and while the user account system is slowly being set up, it will need to be coordinated with our membership system.
