VE8RT in Action (YARS Photo)

There is a weekly VHF radio net every Sunday at 9:00 PM local time on the local repeater system here in Yellowknife.  The repeater is also an IRLP node 1642 and check-ins are welcome to call in. 

  • Sunday, 9:00 PM Local Time
  • VE8YK/R (146.940 MHz with -600 kHz offset with a 100 Hz sub-audible tone) based in Yellowknife (IRLP was verified as functional as of 2023-08-02 by VE8IR and M0XWS and VE8RT); and
  • VE8RAE/R (145.150 MHz with -600 kHz offset) based in Behchokǫ̀ (formerly Rae).

Opening

"Good evening everyone and welcome to the VE8YK Weekly Amateur Radio Net.

My name is [Your Name], [Your Callsign], and I will be serving as Net Control for tonight's net.

This net is held each Sunday evening at 9:00 PM to provide an opportunity for amateur radio operators and guests to connect, share information, discuss radio activities, and maintain emergency communications readiness.

Emergency or Priority Traffic

Pause and acknowledge any traffic.

"If there is no emergency or priority traffic, we will proceed with the net."

Check-Ins

"I will now take check-ins.

Please give your callsign slowly and clearly, along with your name and location if you wish.

Stations with traffic for the net, portable stations, mobile stations, or first-time check-ins will be given priority.

Please come now with your callsign."

Record check-ins and acknowledge each station.

Net Roundtable

We will now begin the roll call. When your callsign is called, please provide:

  • Your name
  • Location
  • Signal report if desired
  • Any amateur radio news, projects, events, announcements, or comments
