2003 VE8YK/R Move from Roberston Shaft

In 2003 the VE8YK/R repeater system was disassembled and removed from the highest point in Yellowknife.  This was the Robertson Shaft at the Con Mine.  The shaft is still present (as of September 2012), but its future remains uncertain.  Proposals were circulated to save the shaft or put it back into operation for a planned geothermal project -- but who knows.

The site was a very good location and some of the amateur radio operators from the 1980s and 1990s remember getting ducting across Great Slave Lake and even hitting the 2 m FM repeaters in Edmonton.
