2014 Basic Course Graduates

Craig Broddy Aaron Jacques Dec2014The Society is pleased to announce that all students in the 2014 fall basic qualification course completed the course and passed the Industry Canada examinations written on 21 December. Craig Broddy (VE8CB) and Aaron Jaque (VE8JQ) are the newest additions to the Yellowknife amateur radio community and to the Society as full voting members.

Many thanks to VE8WD, VE8RT, VE8IR and VE8MT for instruction and helping to establish an instructor to student ratio of 2:1.

The Society offers training for interested persons that puts them in good stead to write and pass the basic qualification examination as set by Industry Canada.  The material is at a high school level of mathematics and physics with some exposure to the law as well.  If you are interested in doing this course please contact the Society.  The next course will likely be run in the fall.  The course is not essential and if you think you can prepare without doing the course, contact us and we can provide you with materials to prepare.  We can also set you up to write the advanced qualification examination or the 5 words per minute Morse code test if you wish to upgrade your current licence.

The Society has two delegated examiners who can administer these exams.
