Ski Loppet 2014

dscf4166The Yellowknife Amateur Radio Society will be conducting radio coverage for the event.  This event is an ideal method of about operating in winter conditions (using VHF).  It is YARS' primary winter exercise.  The Ski Loppet is on 6 April 2014.

As usual we will use checkpoint numbers. Callsigns should be used if the repeater be needed. Working frequency will be 146.52 simplex.

We should meet at Vee Lake parking lot just before 9:00AM.

The plan for the base will be to use several sections of portable mast to raise an omni as high as practical. Should be able to anchor it in a window. The portable base station that we used at the Frostbite will be rigged up with batteries and run into my truck parked on Walsh. Brent will bring two snowmobiles and Dave will have another so transportation should not be a problem.

Map is here.
